About Dental Crowns
The visible portion of the tooth that sits above the gums is known as the crown. When a tooth has been damaged by decay, infection or trauma, often times our Danvers restorative dentist will recommend getting a dental crown to revive the tooth. A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that is specially designed to fit over your tooth to breathe life back into its appearance and function.
Crowns can be made from a variety of different materials, depending on your needs, budget, etc. Dental crowns are often made from porcelain, as this tooth-colored material best mimics the shade and color of a natural tooth so that you get a restoration that no one will even know isn’t your real tooth. Traditional crowns usually take a couple visits to our office to complete, but CEREC crowns can also provide you with a new restoration in just one visit.
About Dental Bridges
This restorative prosthetic is designed to fill the gap left over by one or more missing teeth by replacing it with a high-quality artificial tooth. Fixed dental bridges use dental crowns to support the restoration. These two crowns are placed over strong, natural teeth that surround the gap. Once the crowns are cemented into place the artificial tooth or teeth will then be bonded to the crowns. Just like with dental crowns, getting a dental bridge often takes a couple visits to complete.
